TW's News 14 Carolina Accelerates Ops With Dalet
By TVTechnology published
News 14 Carolina, a Time Warner Cable North Carolina local news channel, has implemented Dalet’s Enterprise Edition newsroom automation package to facilitate its workflow. The 24-hour news operation has newsrooms in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, and the addition of the Dalet application will be used to integrate content acquisition, editing operations, production and distribution more effectively.
“Dalet brings a major video production upgrade to News 14 Carolina,” said Alan Mason, News 14 Carolina’s vice president and general manager. “Every journalist can sit at their desk and edit a 15 second teaser or full package. We can do things that we couldn't before… such as adding a video clip or a sound bite into the nightly sports show rundown using Dalet on the anchor laptop during the show. The flexibility with this system is enormous.”
The news channel’s workflow includes Dalet logging tools, metadata forms and search and browse engine. It is expected to facilitate communication between the operation’s journalists, editors and producers, and to optimize broadcast resources.
News 14 Carolina serves a large geographic area and provides coverage based on four discrete regions of the state, targeting stories either on a regional or statewide basis. Content is distributed statewide by Time Warner Cable.
