Companies that serve the television market continue to track the Dow, which is fluctuating on interpretations of the government’s $800 billion stimulus package. The Dow dipped around 4 percent yesterday, losing more than 380 points, on disappointment over the lack of details in the fed’s economic bailout plan. The sell-off cooled somewhat by this morning; the Dow regained 54 points through the course of the day.
The Dow opened 4 percent higher yesterday than one week earlier. By comparison, the Television Broadcast TV Vendor Stock Index companies posted an average gain of around two percent, held back by an 11 percent dip in Toshiba’s shares and a 15 percent decline in Wegener’s stock price, from 20 to 17 cents.
