Turner Broadcasting System will manage all of its data for its entertainment networks using EMC's Avalon Product Group software. The purchase of the Avalon AVALONidm software was made in conjunction with the network's acquisition of multiple terabytes of EMC's CLARiiON storage system.
Avalon’s data management solution, AVALONidm, manages both short-and long-form material across multiple data storage systems, including disk, DVD and tape. It will operate as part of an integrated system within Turner's Network Operations unit. Network Operations, located in a new 193,000 square-foot facility in Atlanta, Ga. is comprised of more than 400 staff members who manage 19 network feeds originating from the Turner facility. AVALONidm will interface with automation from Pro-Bel Systems and video servers from Pinnacle Systems.
