Triveni Digital’s GuideBuilder SI adds EPG support to digital network package from Evolution Digital

Triveni Digital has signed a reseller agreement with Evolution Digital, maker of a low-cost DVB-based solution that enables mid-sized and small cable operators to launch affordable all-digital networks.

The agreement allows the incorporation of Triveni’s GuideBuilder SI into Evolution’s product. It will provide critical program information to Evolution’s low-cost digital-to-analog converter, which provides the subscriber with a more enhanced channel navigating experience.

The entire end-to-end digital solution, including headend, conditional access and set-top boxes (STBs), is provided with installation, integration and ongoing technical support services. The system’s reliance on the DVB standard enables use of a broader range of competitively priced STB models, which in turn makes it financially feasible for smaller cable operators to make the shift to all-digital networks.

The GuideBuilder SI system generates accurate DVB-SI data and provides an intuitive interface for managing program event information. DVB-SI is the foundation for DVB digital television transport streams and thus is critical for important functions, such as DTV tuners finding the services and programs listed in EPGs.

EPG data carried in DVB-SI tables not only provides immediate scheduling information, but also can hold guide data for many days/weeks and, in turn, facilitate automatic recording of programs in PVR devices.
