Télé-Québec upgrades monitoring with Kaleido-X

Télé-Québec, a production company operated by the provincial government of Quebec, Canada, has installed a new Miranda Kaleido-X multi-image display system in one of its production control rooms.

The Kaleido-X replaces an existing monitor wall comprised of 30 separate CRT screens. The new multi-image display system allows any of the room's signals to be displayed across four LCD screens.

Télé-Québec is upgrading its entire facility in a series of stages to migrate to digital, HD and 5.1 audio capabilities. Miranda has already delivered signal conversion products from its Densite’ and Imaging ranges in preparation for the station's master control room refurbishment, along with another Kaleido-X system. This next stage of upgrading is due for completion in December 2007, ready in support of the launch of Télé-Québec’s HD channel. A third Kaleido-X system has also been delivered for a further production studio.

The Kaleido-X is designed for large-scale, multiroom environments. Each Kaleido-X processor frame features up to 96 auto-sensing HD/SD/analog inputs, and up to eight multi-image outputs. Multiple processors can be linked together to create systems that address the largest monitoring requirements.

The system uses patent-pending scaling technology that allows the image quality to be maintained over the full range of image sizes.
