Thomson takes EDIUS on the road

For those looking to get a closer look at the latest version of EDIUS HD editing software, Thomson is traveling around the country to provide on-site demonstrations of its new HDSTORM I/O board, which works with version 5 of EDIUS.

The hands-on tour is designed for professionals who were not able to attend the IBC 2008 show and for those looking for more detailed information on these new products. Tour sites will be hosted by authorized resellers.

Supporting file-based environments, these new content creation products, which speed up the production process, were introduced at the IBC convention in Amsterdam. Over the next few months, the Thomson Editing Tour will travel to: Atlanta (Oct. 28); Dedham, MA, (Oct. 20); New York City (Oct. 21 and Oct. 29); Houston (Nov. 5-7); New Orleans (Nov. 13), and Los Angeles (Dec. 4).

The new EDIUS version 5 editing software brings new functionality and tapeless workflow improvements. It comes bundled with more than $1000 worth of third-party plug-ins and software, and offers an end-to-end native workflow using the emerging JPEG2000 compression format.

The HDSTORM is a PCI Express board with HDMI-based input/output capability and the Canopus HQ hardware codec built-in. HDSTORM, which includes the latest version of EDIUS nonlinear editing software, helps users make the transition from SD to HD file-based production in a fast, flexible and highly cost-effective way. An optional I/O bay provides additional HDMI input/output as well as analog video and audio.
