Thomson Licenses FILMLOOK 24p Tech

(January 20, 2004) Burbank, CA--Thomson Grass Valley has signed a patent license agreement with FILMLOOK for FILMLOOK’s 24p camera technology for Thomson Grass Valley's high definition progressive frame cameras.
This is FILMLOOK's third licensing agreement. Sony Corporation has previously taken a license from FILMLOOK relating to the 24p functionality of its progressive frame cameras.
"With a growing trend toward film image simulation in episodic TV and digitally produced features, we are highly confident that this patented technology will be a major part, if not a requirement of the entertainment industry in the future," said FILMLOOK’s president Robert Faber. "As this camera technology is being implemented, it is having a far reaching impact on production, from the prosumer level to the primetime TV series, and to feature theatrical releases."
Since 1989 FILMLOOK has owned and provided the patented post production process FILMLOOK, which gives video based productions the appearance of telecined film.
