Thomson Grass Valley to feature EDIUS Broadcast version 4.6

Thomson Grass Valley will showcase EDIUS version 4.6 with new functionality based upon the JPEG2000 codec used in the Thomson Grass Valley Infinity camcorder during NAB2008.

The JPEG2000 codec allows multilayer editing of EFP-quality HD content, even on a laptop computer. The workflow for Sony’s XDCAM has also been enhanced to support the new EX range of camcorders. EDIUS Broadcast takes advantage of Sony’s Simple Access Mode (SAM), whereby low-resolution video can be used in conjunction with high-resolution audio.

EDIUS Broadcast v4.6 takes advantage of JPEG2000’s bit layering, which provides full 100Mb/s encoded stream, an intermediate level (30Mb/s) or a high-quality browse level (6Mb/s).

The new release also delivers integration via MXF with the Thomson Grass Valley K2 media server platform to provide a seamless workflow across networked editing and production workstations.
