CES, CN8 agree to broadcast live boxing
Classic Entertainment & Sports and CN8, The Comcast Network, have announced an agreement to broadcast five live professional boxing cards over the next 12 months. The first fight will be broadcast March 27 from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., and feature Vinny Paz. CN8, The Comcast Network reaches 6.2 million households on the East Coast.

Florida Gators stream video coverage of baseball
This week marked the first time fans of the University of Florida baseball team could watch game action streamed live over Internet. The Tuesday and Wednesday games between the Gators and the Michigan Wolverines were the first of 12 baseball games to be aired on GatorVision Online.

Sports programming leads 500 channel universe, says HMG’s CEO
At its annual shareholders meeting in Toronto, Headline Media Group (HMG) company chairman and CEO John Levy identified sports broadcasting as a leader. “Sports broadcasting continues to lead the 500 channel universe as the prime genre of choice, by delivering viewers live sports, and real-time sports news, information and highlights,” he said. HMG owns The Score Television Network.

NBC, Telemundo expands Main Events fight card broadcasts
NBC and Telemundo have announced the expansion of their “Budweiser Boxing Series” from three consecutive weekend cards last year to five this year. The cards are scheduled for the afternoons of April 17 and 23 and May 1, 8 and 15. Telemundo will air live one-hour Spanish-language coverage of the Main Events-promoted cards followed by a 90-minute broadcast from the same event from NBC Sports.
