Telestream and EVS Announce FlipFactory Integration with XT

Telestream and EVS Broadcast Equipment have announced Telestream FlipFactory transcoding support for the EVS MXF format, XT Server and XFile platform. The product integration provides seamless media and metadata file exchange between the XT Server and a greater number of professional systems, including Avid and other nonlinear edit systems, storage area networks, archives and other media servers. It also extends FlipFactory universal transcoding support to include the EVS JPEG format used for sports broadcast.

“The ability to easily reformat and exchange media and crucial metadata files with other systems, such as the Avid MediaComposer, provides tremendous workflow advantages for our customers,” said Serge Comes, Product Manager Media Exchange Solutions for EVS. “The extensive range of FlipFactory format support combined with its high-performance transcoding provides our customers with the file compatibility they need and the quality they deserve in the demanding live production environment, where the efficiency of the workflow is essential.”

Telestream maintains a strong position worldwide for its FlipFactory transcoding automation applications. No other encoding product provides the depth and breadth of formats and system support as FlipFactory. The integration with EVS adds support for the EVS MXF format for XT series servers, as well as the wide range of video formats supported by the EVS media servers, including MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, DVC Pro, Panasonic P2, Sony XDCAM, and more.

The integration improves workflow in terms of continuity between EVS and Avid systems. Media is recorded into the EVS XT server. Then, FlipFactory automatically provides transparent import and export of Avid-compatible media and metadata files with the EVS XT server. When media is ready to air, FlipFactory can also be used to deliver finished material back to EVS servers for play out.

“The addition of the highly-recognized EVS formats and systems is an exciting step forward for FlipFactory,” said David Heppe, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Telestream. “Integration with EVS is an equally important step forward for Telestream as it extends our penetration into the live production market.”

EVS will be demonstrating the XT integration with Telestream FlipFactory in booth C4534 at NAB. The demonstration will feature FlipFactory interfaced with Avid to enable seamless import and export of EVS MXF files. FlipFactory will also be demonstrated in Telestream booth SU11404. FlipFactory support for EVS is slated for availability in May 2005 from Telestream’s worldwide sales and distribution network.
