Telecast Links Up FSU's Sports Venues

Florida State University is installing Telecast Fiber Systems' fiber-optic transmission systems to connect a control room in its Doak Campbell Stadium to sports events held at Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center and the university's Dick Howser Stadium. The system will allow remote production of football, baseball and basketball games from a new communications center in the football stadium's north end zone.

FSU and Verdier Ventures, a San Francisco-based video system planning firm, are combining TV production of features, replays, stats and highlights for big-screen and TV broadcasts in one control room. Gear from Telecast includes two Adder 882i intercom/data multiplexers and four CopperHead camera-mounted tranceivers to transmit audio, video, data and intercom between FSU's basketball stadium and the control room. CopperHead base stations provide remote control over Sony DSR300 cameras.

Telecast's modular Adder system can support on one fiber up to eight modular intercoms, two fixed duplex four-wire intercoms, eight two-way data and four bi-directional switch closures for tally and call. FSU's CopperHead units fit on ENG cameras.
