TBS Network’s ‘Lopez Tonight’ produced on Sony XDCAM HD

Comedian George Lopez’s new late-night talk show “Lopez Tonight,” which premiered Nov. 9 on the TBS network, is being produced using the XDCAM PDW-HD1500 decks from Sony. The file-based production capabilities of the XDCAM HD workflow met the show’s requirements for quickly and easily capturing and producing HD segments, as well as handling content from various outside sources, graphics and a mix of live and prerecorded material.

The HD 4:22 decks can be used for recording program material, program mastering, post production and archiving program material. It includes a Gigabit Ethernet data drive that can write any flash memory file format from any codec onto the optical disc media. Files can then be previewed using a Web browser, transferred over IT networks and easily archived and accessed by multiple people simultaneously.

The XDCAM HD system also offers the advantages of Blu-ray optical disc media, which can be cost-effectively consumed and archived.
