Syntax-Brillian Pens LCD Panel Deal With LG.Philips
By TVTechnology published
Syntax-Brillian Corp., the company behind Olevia-brand LCD HD sets, which are sold mostly in big-box outlets, has entered into an LCD panel-supply deal with LG.Philips LCD. The agreement was sealed back in January, although Syntax-Brillian said they only recently received permission to announce it.
Under the deal’s terms, LG Philips will guarantee to supply Syntax-Brillian with a minimum of 750,000 LCD panels during the current calendar year for 32-, 37-, 42- and 47-inch 1080p units. The company also secured the option to purchase additional LCD panels from LG.Philips as needed, based on market demand.
Syntax-Brillian is based outside Phoenix in Tempe, Ariz., and has rapidly become one of the leading manufacturers and marketers of LCD HD sets in North America, mostly under its Olevia brand.
