Swedish Internet pioneer shows 40Gb/s to home connection

Fifteen hundred HD channels available simultaneously over an Internet connection in the home seems like a fantasy, but that’s exactly what’s possible in one Swedish home — at least if there were that many HD channels in existence.

The home, reports “The Local,” belongs to the 75-year-old mother of Swedish Internet guru Peter Lothberg and boasts a 40Gb/s Internet connection thanks to an innovative approach to modulation that transfers data directly between two routers located up to 1242mi apart. The system is fiber based, reports “The Local,” and is intended to demonstrate that such high-speed connections to the home can be done in a commercially viable manner.
