SureWest implements IP-based VOD system with help from Irdeto Access, Minerva, Kasenna, and Amino

The Irdeto Access Content Protection for IP conditional access system provides the encryption for SureWest Communications' end-to-end video-over-DSL distribution system.

SureWest Communications, based in Roseville, Calif., has implemented a secure video-over-DSL IP distribution system that leverages the combined strengths of Irdeto Access’ conditional access technology, Minerva Networks’ IP television solution, Kasenna’s on-demand video delivery platform, and Amino’s AmiNET digital set-top boxes.

The tightly integrated technologies create a broadcast delivery solution that supports transmission of secure digital video and video-on-demand (VOD) programming over IP-based networks from headend to consumer.

Utilizing the integrated solution from Irdeto Access, Minerva, Kasenna, and Amino, SureWest will deploy video simultaneously over both DSL and fiber-to-the-home networks.

Minerva’s iTVManager controls interactive television services, while the Kasenna systems manage, distribute, and deliver VOD content. The Irdeto Access Content Protection for IP conditional access system provides the encryption for the end-to-end solution. Amino's digital set-top boxes equipped with Irdeto Access smart cards complete the system.
