Stations continue to test DTV readiness

Local stations have gotten the message from the FCC and are testing viewers’ readiness for the digital conversion in February 2009.

KTXA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth will conduct a brief DTV test when it shuts off its analog transmitter for 15 seconds sometime between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23.

Last week, Belo’s KGW-TV in Portland, OR, pulled the plug on its 6 p.m. newscast briefly so viewers could find out if their television is ready for conversion to digital television.

Hearst-Argyle’s television stations in Fort Smith/Fayetteville, AR, ran simulated shutoffs of their analog signals monthly starting last week and continuing through Feb. 17.
