Start-up Using 'Cloud' Approach to HD Encoding

HD Cloud, a new video encoding/transcoding enterprise, is seeking to provide fast and easy video services online using a type of server-based "cloud" scheme that has the capability to run thousands of client video encoding sessions simultaneously and then distribute them to a variety of end-points.

The firm's automated HD encoding in the so-called "cloud" environment allows large-scale content owners to automatically encode and subsequently distribute their respective video segments to a wide array of Web sites with 720p resolution.

HD Cloud recently signed its first big customer—video publisher and social network Magnify.net—according to the Washington Post and other publications. HD Cloud said it will transcode all the videos provided by Magnify.net's 52,000 clients—a roster which currently includes Weather.com, New York Magazine, LiveEarth and BlogHer.com, among others.

HD Cloud basically eliminates traditional hardware services in favor of using server-based cloud services for multitasking.
