The crew from Sheffield Remote Productions worked with Solid State Logic’s Axiom-MT Digital Console for Bruce Springsteen’s concert in Asbury, NJ and appearance on NBC's “The Today Show.”
Axiom is a configurable digital console which is fully automated, both dynamically and/or snapshot.
Sheffield’s 48-foot remote audio truck includes a 30-foot control room, features ten-foot ceilings, lead lined walls, sand filled floors, and an elevated client lounge and vocal booth for ease of observation. Also inside the truck is the SSL MT digital console, which has 96 inputs, Total Recall and moving faders.
The cleaner format and instant resets of the MT also aided Van Horn and his team. By running everything through fiber-optic cables, the sound was much clearer and the crew didn’t have to worry about any “bumps, buzzes and hums” coming from the stage.
Recent projects for Sheffield’s Remote Audio truck include a DVD and MTV special for Jimmy Eat World taped in Washington D.C., a DVD and TV special for Usher recorded in Orlando, FL, and a live broadcast from Baltimore, MD for MTV for The Hive.
Sheffield’s success with the MT console has led to the purchase of the HS Control Processor Upgrade, a brand new format processor unit featuring a new low voltage power supply unit, new backplane, the latest HS revision audio processing cards, 6Hi-Way ports, 24-Bit ADC/DAC cards, and a SuperDISKÔ 120MB Floppy Disk. The upgraded HS processor provides eight times more capacity than the original A-Series processor and is at least 10 times faster, for faster snapshots and banking, faster control and file access, and a more responsive feel.
