Solid State Logic's C100 console will be one of the centerpieces of the all-new broadcast control room that is being built at the Wachovia Center.
Looking to streamline production of its professional sports broadcasts, Comcast SportsNet, has chosen Solid State Logic’s C100 digital broadcast console to handle multiple live game feeds.
The C100 audio console is configured with SSL’s remote (mic input) stagebox option, allowing Comcast SportsNet to broadcast games from two separate venues out of a single, high-definition control room. Each home game will feature a full Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound mix.
Comcast SportsNet owns the broadcast rights for the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA), Philadelphia Flyers (NHL) and Philadelphia Phillies (MLB).
Located in the Wachovia Center, home of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers as well as the NHL’s Flyers, the C100 console will serve as the hub for Comcast SportsNet’s centralized audio production. SSL’s stagebox will be placed at nearby Citizens Bank Park, the new home of the Philadelphia Phillies that’s set to open this year. Microphones installed throughout the stadium will be connected to the C100 at the Wachovia Center by fiber optic cable via the stagebox. This enables Comcast SportsNet engineers to produce home games of all three regional teams to be produced from a single facility.
Comcast SportsNet’s C100 console, which was delivered last month, is part of the all-new broadcast control room that is being built at the Wachovia Center. A.F. Associates is managing the systems integration for the facility, which is expected to be fully online and operational when the Phillies take the field against the Cincinnati Reds April 12 for the inaugural home game from Citizens Bank Park.
The C100 is a small footprint, assignable console, specifically designed for on-air studio applications, such as news or sports and live-to tape talk and game shows, where fast and efficient handling of sources and destinations are critical. The C100 digital broadcast console can handle both stereo and multichannel audio signals from the same interface, delivering the ultimate in operational efficiency.
