SomerData supports Shanghai Media Group DMB-T efforts

SomerData of Wells, Somerset, UK, has recently supplied two DABSTOR systems to Shanghai Media Group (SMG).
With support from its Chinese partner BTL Digital Communications, SomerData has supplied DABSTOR with its Ensemble Multiplex recorder, replayer and monitoring system for use on DMB-T multiplexes operated by SMG.
SMG currently runs 13 analog TV channels, 11 radio stations, 16 nationwide digital-pay TV channels, including one HD channel, and 30 local-pay TV channels in Shanghai. It also holds the country’s first and only license to operate streaming media mobile phone TV with nationwide coverage.
SMG has become the first media company in China to produce short drama series for mobile phones. It also held exclusive rights to broadcast the 2006 FIFA World Cup on mobile phones.
