Snell & Wilcox Kahuna production switcher now controls EVS HD server

Snell & Wilcox’s Kahuna SD/HD production switcher has been tightly integrated with the EVS XT[2] production server, enabling the switcher to control all channels of the XT[2] server. This gives operators easy access to multiple content streams and the ability to deliver any type of content to air for HD broadcast.

With Kahuna directly controlling the XT[2] server, operators can access video clips and apply frame-accurate key and fill animations and other effects without having to go through a separate control system. With its multiformat SD/HD capability, Kahuna can mix existing SD camera feeds, graphics, handheld shots and archive footage from the XT[2] server directly into an HD broadcast without the need for outbound upconversion equipment.

Sports broadcasters use EVS servers for their slow-motion capabilities and pristine picture quality, fast reactivity, and reliability. The paring of the Kahuna with the XT[2] is a powerful combination for high-quality HD productions.
