Snell & Wilcox Hires New CEO

UK-based broadcast equipment manufacturer Snell & Wilcox has hired Simon Derry, as its new CEO. Derry is a former executive with Vitec plc, where he headed up the company's broadcast division. The appointment was announced by John Poulter, recently appointed chairman of the board for Snell.

Derry, who has also worked for GEC Plessey Telecom, Nokia and Ingersoll Rand, will assume his post later this year. Poulter, chairman of Spectris plc, a process instrumentation and electronic controls manufacturer, and of industrial services and distribution company Wyko Group Ltd., is already on board as chairman.

Poulter praised Derry's predecessor, John Spencer, who will remain on the board, saying, "John has steered the company through challenging times for the broadcast industry as a whole. His leadership has been especially valuable during the recent transitional period, culminating in the successful refinancing and investment by Advent Venture Partners. I am delighted that he will remain on the board to maintain continuity and to ensure that his contribution is built upon."
