Siemens Selects Harris' NexVX System
By TVTechnology published
Siemens Business Services has purchased Harris' NexVX high-speed video transport networking system following a successful trial during the 2004 presidential election.
By the end of 2004, BBC News was beginning to digitize its Washington, D.C. bureau and with the NetVX installation, the BBC was able to use parallel networks for contributions to and from the nation's capital.
NetVX can handle packet-based architectures including ATM and IP over multiple networks such as microwave and satellite. The system transports analog or digital audio and video over a combination of networks simultaneously.
Siemens Business Services--which purchased BBC Technology in 2004--has a 10-year deal with the BBC to deliver technology services to the British news organization.
