PanAmSat Licensee was granted Special Temporary Authority (STA) to conduct tracking telemetry and command (TT&C) operations and to drift the Galaxy 3R satellite from its current location at 111.0 degrees west longitude (WL) to 73.95 degrees WL and maintain it as 73.95 degrees. The STA is active from Jan. 3, 2005 to Feb. 3, 2005. See FCC Report SAT-00265 for additional information.
XM Radio requested STA to test its S-band/X-band replacement satellite XM-3 at 80.0 degrees WL for 60 days following launch, which is expected to be in the first quarter of 2005. This information is from FCC Report SAT-00266.
SES Americom was granted temporary authority to operate AMC-15 at 117 degrees WL for a period of 60 days between January 7, 2005 to March 7, 2005. Operation will be limited to Ka-band frequencies and Ku-band TT&C. No interference can result from the temporary operation at this location.

The FCC dismissed the DirecTV application requesting authority to use the 340 MHz of Ka-band spectrum it surrendered when it modified its Spaceway 1 and Spaceway 2 licenses for its new DirecTV 10 and DirecTV satellites. The FCC said once the spectrum was released, it could be made "available" for reassignment only upon release of a public notice announcing the surrender. The FCC said it had not issued such a notice, so the application to use this spectrum was premature. However, the FCC said it would keep--with a change in nomenclature--the portions of the DirecTV satellite applications that requested spectrum already authorized for the Spaceway satellites. Also, because DirecTV will not be retiring the Spaceway 1 and Spaceway 2 licenses, it will consider the DirecTV applications as applications for new satellites.
