Satellite Update

PanAmSat requested special temporary authority to operate its Galaxy 17 conventional C- and Ku-band space station at 81 degrees west longitude for up to 21 days following the launch of the satellite. The application is on public notice until April 9, 2007. PanAmSat also requested STA to perform in-orbit testing of Galaxy 17 at 75.5 degrees WL for a period not to exceed 30 days following its launch. This information is from FCC Report SAT-00430.

The FCC granted DirecTV's request to change the orbital location of DIRECTV 8 from 100.75 degrees WL to 100.85 degrees WL. The FCC dismissed as moot a Petition for Clarification of DirecTV Enterprises Inc., Order and Authorization, filed by Telesat Canada on Nov. 19, 2001, because DirecTV has since completed international coordination of DirecTV 4S. See FCC Report SAT-00431 for more information on this and other actions, including DirecTV's request for a determination of compliance with or extension of a license modification for space station call sign S2132 at 101 degrees WL.
