Registration Opens for Annual SMPTE Technical Conference and Expo

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers has announced that registration is now open for SMPTE 2008, the organization’s annual technical conference and exposition which will be held this year at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, Calif.

Event dates are Oct. 28-30.

SMPTE 2008 will feature case studies, tutorial sessions and white papers covering a broad range of television and motion picture technology presented by industry experts. This year these range from stereoscopic television to IPTV.

“We designed the SMPTE 2008 Tech Conference and Expo to be a nuts and bolts resource for our members, as well as a service to the greater professional entertainment technology community,” said Kimberly Maki, SMPTE’s executive director. “It is a non-proprietary event where the industry can learn about the latest media-related technologies and how they will be employed, and about the innovations likely to be put into place in the next five years.”

The fall show will also feature an expanded exhibits floor where attendees can get first-hand looks at the latest industry hardware, software, tools and technologies.

Registration is available on-line at the SMPTE Web site.
