PUMA TV selects Thales transmitters

Four terrestrial transmitters are expected to be on air by September 2005 and the rest will be deployed in early 2006.

New Venezuelan network PUMA TV has selected a dozen Ultimate Series medium and high power solid-state transmitters from Thales Broadcast & Multimedia for its nationwide launch.

Four terrestrial transmitters are expected to be on air by September 2005 and the rest will be deployed in early 2006.

The transmitter systems, with associated feed line and antenna systems at each site, will be used in a country wide deployment in Caracas, Maracaibo, Barquisimeto, Puerto La Cruz, Puerto Ordaz, El Volcan, Maturin, Barinas, Acarigua, Carabobo, and Puerto Cabello.

Thales’ Ultimate transmitters feature broadband technology that allows operation on any UHF channel in Band IV and V. All Ultimate air-cooled transmitters include an LDMOS broadband amplifier.

Thales’ analog solid-state transmitters are also easily upgradeable for digital transmission by exchanging the analog modulator with a Digital Exciter featuring integrated COFDM and Digital Adaptive Precorrection technology.
