Panasonic to showcase 5-slot P2 drive at NAB2004

Panasonic will unveil the AJ-PCD10, a five-slot P2 drive designed for rapid ingest of DVCPRO or DVCPRO50 resolution video into nonlinear editing or server systems at this year’s NAB convention.

The P2 drive is designed for high-speed file transfer into servers or an NLE and also enables direct access to the content on the P2 cards. With the AJ-PCD10, digitizing is eliminated so material can be accessed almost instantly.

The AJ-PCD10 fits in a standard PC type 5.25-inch bay drive enclosure, and supports five P2 card slots. It offers a high-speed USB 2.0 interface to connect to the host computer and through that computer to a television station’s local area network (LAN).

The AJ-PCD10 card drive will be available in May.

The DVCPRO P2 product family includes the AJ-SPX800 camcorder, AJ-SPD850 studio recorder, and AJ-P2C004 4GB and AJ-P2C002 2GB capacity P2 cards.
