Omneon Announces PBS Installation Benchmark

Omneon has now completed installation of its Spectrum server at 75 PBS member stations. The announcement was made concurrently with the annual PBS Technology Conference being held in Las Vegas this week.

PBS operations now using Omneon media server technology include the network's headquarters in Arlington, Va., as well as member stations from Los Angeles to Florida.

"The Spectrum media server has proven to be the right solution for a wide variety of broadcasters, and we have made a real effort to focus on the needs and special requirements of PBS member stations in terms of flexibility, reliability, and price," said Geoff Stedman, vice president of worldwide marketing for Omneon. "Our new MediaDeck, which we will premier at the Tech Conference, goes another step in addressing the requirements of small- and medium-sized stations."

In addition to MediaDeck, attendees at the Technology Conference will also have a chance to see Omenon's new ProBrowse system in operation.
