As the nation enters the final month before the scheduled shutoff of analog transmitters at full-power TV stations, the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration has released statistics about the government’s DTV converter box coupon program.
The statistics, released Jan. 15, show:
- Households approved: 26,188,664
- Coupons requested: 48,740,641
- Coupons mailed: 44,602,601
- Coupons expired: 13,723,563
- Coupons redeemed: 19,844,275
- Coupons on wait list: 2,146,455
- Coupons active: 11,034,763
- Total funds committed: $1.31 billion
- Total funds available: $0
- Funds settled: $757,499,659
- Average daily orders: 122,940
- Average daily orders last 30 days: 260,403
- Average daily orders last week: 219,050
- Redemption rate: 53 percent
- Retailers/locations 2326 / 34,191
- Phone/online retailers 11 / 36
- Converters/pass-through 187 / 110
