New York’s Goldcrest Post purchases Quantel’s Pablo

Goldcrest Post, a boutique facility in New York City, recently took delivery of its second Pablo 2K digital intermediate and color grading system. It also added Genetic Engineering, Quantel’s infrastructure that allows workstations to share storage.

The facility provides clients with 2K data or HD online editorial and color correction services to a 2K large screen digital cinema projection. The first Pablo was installed to handle the Ken Burns WWII documentary “The War.”

The newest Pablo is being used concurrently on Burns’ six-part S-16mm documentary, “National Parks,” and James Ivory’s new 35mm feature, “The City of Your Final Destination.”

The facility called the Pablo “a brilliant color corrector” that’s fast and intuitive. Much of Goldcrest Post’s work consists of mixed media as well as solely film or tape-based projects. The company typically uses one of the Pablos as a conform system while most of the digital intermediate effects and color correction work takes place on the second Pablo in the DI theatre. All of the high-resolution media is instantly shared via Genetic Engineering.
