London-based Neon Broadcast Services has installed a Snell & Wilcox Kahuna switcher in its newest HD mobile production truck.
Besides the multilformat switcher, the mobile unit also has 12 cameras, four VTRs and high-resolution TFT monitors. Engineers for Neon Broadcast will be able to mix both SD and HD camera feeds, graphics, handheld shots and archive footage directly into and HD production with the help of the Kahuna that fits in an 11 RU frame. The Kahuna also contains four M/Es and, optionally, eight channels of 3D DVE effects.
"As HD acquisition continues to increase, mobile trucks with multiformat support are increasingly important in bringing the highest-quality images to facilities or events without HD equipment in place," said Colin Vinton, managing director, Neon Broadcast Services.
