NAB2005: Mitsubishi to Display New LCD HD Projection Sets
By TVTechnology published
Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America is introducing four digital cable-ready micro-display HD televisions that feature three-chip liquid crystal display [LCD) technology and new compact, high-style designs at NAB in Booth SL1267.
Mitsubishi models WD-52527 (52-inch), WD-62527 (62-inch), WD-52528 (52-inch) and WD-62528 (62-inch) are equipped with SmartShutter, a patented high-contrast system that produces images with deep blacks and enhanced dark-scene detail. The company said the new system improves contrast by four times compared to standard LCD rear-projection. Its optical technology uses advanced aperture control to reduce light output levels during dark scenes.
A recently formulated LCD coating is designed to enable wider viewing angles by producing a higher dispersion of light from the LCD panels. The four models contain 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.
Models WD-52528 and WD-62528 also use Mitsubishi's proprietary DeepField imager and SharpEdge--both of which are switchable from on-screen menus. The imager allows the display of enhanced contrast and black levels and constantly monitors the picture to adjust brightness, contrast and gamma so that every frame is optimized for depth-of-field. SharpEdge is designed to create crisper edges between objects and backgrounds for sharper images.
