NAB board supports Rockefeller-Caps legislation

The NAB Television Board of Directors has adopted a resolution in support of legislation that would provide stations the ability to educate viewers by broadcasting an informational message in the days following the DTV transition next Feb. 17.

Such legislation was recently introduced by Rep. Lois Capps, D-CA, and Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-WV.

The legislation provides for a voluntary extension of analog broadcasting beyond the date of Feb. 17, only to provide additional time for consumers to be educated about the DTV transition and to receive emergency information.

This voluntary commitment would apply only to stations where the continuation of the analog signal is technically feasible.
