Motorola buys stake in wireless HD semiconductor company

Motorola last week acquired a stake in AMIMON, a semiconductor company specializing in wireless transmission of HD video.
The company's technology allows HD video sources like digital set-top boxes to connect to HDTVs wirelessly without compression. AMIMON's wireless HD interface (WHDI) technology enables wireless transmission of uncompressed HD video streams in the 5GHz unlicensed band.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
