Media General Taps AP for Newsroom Convergence

Media General has selected AP's ENPS news production system to digitize the newsroom workflow of Tampa, Fla. WFLA-TV. ENPS will be linked to NewsGate and NewsDesk applications built by CCI Europe to be used by the co-located Tampa Tribune's newspaper journalists.

"We are continuing to build on our successful ENPS broadcast integration model to create a dynamic data exchange with print systems," said Lee Perryman, Deputy Director of AP's Broadcast division and Directory of Broadcast Technology. "ENPS will send the contents of broadcast news assignment planners and rundowns to the print system in real-time, meaning that WFLA-TV news desk's responses to breaking news will be immediately available to NewsGate and NewsDesk users."

Nearly 1,000 users can share information in a print environment or hundreds of miles apart, in a broadcast environment. Features include scripting, rundowns, planning, contacts, messaging, news wire management, remote access capabilities and a fully integrated search engine.

ENPS is already used by 20 Media General newsrooms.
