Media Broadcast upgrades SNG Fleet

German broadcast services provider Media Broadcast has added nine new vehicles as part of an upgrade to its SNG fleet. The new vehicles are kitted out with state-of-the-art, HD-ready and redundant systems, new high-performance antennas and higher transmitting power. Media Broadcast will now be able to offer customers secure access to a wide variety of satellites.

Three of the new additions are also equipped with production technology, including connections for up to four HD cameras, an editing suite based on Avid Media Composer, Panasonic/Yamaha image and sound mixer set up and wireless microphone and intercom technology. These vehicles also come with reserves for MCPC (Multichannel per Carrier) operation and additional HD encoders for more extensive broadcasts.

In addition, all of the new vehicles support simultaneous send/receive of different formats without affecting their redundancy. Audio components for Dolby-E and different encryption systems are part of the package.

"We've increased our capacity to meet our customers' increased demands for occasional use with these new stations. Combined with our fibre network services, we currently have the largest HD broadcasting offer on the German market," explains Dr. Ulrich Liebenow, Member of the Managing Board at MEDIA BROADCAST. "We generally expect to see increased demand in the sporting event sector, especially with EURO 2008TM and the Olympic Games in China. We also provide our customers with around-the-clock, managed end-to-end services via satellite."
