Madoff Client List Published

The client list of con man and former NASDAQ chief, Bernard Madoff, has been made public. Those among his ripped-off investors include Long Island, N.Y. cable company, Cablevision, CNN host Larry King, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), Baseball Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax, Steven Spielberg, Broadway producers, the owner of the New York Mets, New York City developers, banks, universities, trust funds and the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local pension fund.

Madoff was busted in December for running a Ponzi scheme disguised as an investment fund. He’s been under house arrest in his Manhattan penthouse while investigators sort out the disappearance of the alleged $50 billion his fund was worth.

The list was made public yesterday via Federal Bankruptcy Court, just as whistle-blower Harry Markopolos testified about the case on Capitol Hill. The former investment manager said he alerted the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission about Madoff nine years ago. The agency more or less responded the like a perplexed Scooby Doo.
