Genoa Color Awarded Patent for Color TV Technology

Genoa Color Technologies has received a U.S. patent for developing multi-primary color (MPC) TV technologies.

The company's ColorPeak expands a display's visible RGB color range by approximately 35 percent and increases brightness by as much as 40 percent. Turquoise and crimson and other rich colors will be more accurately shown on the screen with the new technology, giving the view a more cinematic feel than video, according to company.

The patent describes a projection display device that is made of a light source with a color rotating mechanism to produce light of four or more primary colors.

Genoa has more than 50 patents pending on technology related to ColorPeak.

TV manufacturers can access the MPC technology through an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) chip for integration into LCD and front and rear projection sets.
