LA’s RPR Sports buys FOR-A switcher for location shoots

RPR Sports, a Los Angeles-based production company, has acquired a new HVS-300HS HD/SD portable video switcher from FOR-A for location shoots.

The compact switcher was purchased to help the production company react to tight deadlines and work in small spaces in extremely remote locations. Though small in size, it can accommodate multicamera HD shoots (1080i, 720p and SD sources), on-set projection and live uplinks.

Location setup is simplified by the frame-sync capability found on every input of the HVS-300HS. Having a frame synchronizer built-in means cameras can be used that do not have a genlock input.

The switcher also has a built-in, 16-channel multiviewer, which reduces production costs by eliminating the need for additional monitors. The expanded aux outputs with the SDI output option allow feeding monitors or projectors, as well as providing an aux for a producer.

The switcher’s multiformat capability allows RPR Sports to mix nonsynchronized sources without having to rely on external devices.
