KVUE-TV improves news graphics workflow
KVUE-TV, the Belo-owned station in Austin, TX, has revamped its news graphics workflow, and is simultaneously preparing for an HD future.
The station has begun using the Pixel Power Clarity 5000 as its primary still store and animation source for all of its newscasts. Integration with the Avid Technology iNews system lets producers assemble simple graphics using available elements and gives the station’s news department greater control over its editorial product.
According to KVUE-TV on-air operations manager Gerry Marcelo, the system has changed the entire workflow of graphics development, and has allowed the graphics staff to focus more on design and less on “one-shot, disposable” graphics.
The HD support that the system offers gives the station’s news operations a foundation for future HD production and on-air capabilities, he added.
Clarity 5000 runs the latest Clarity Version 7 software, which includes clip capability, perspective DVE, timeline animation and real-time 3-D options.
