Kuwait Television to build new archive facility

Kuwait Television in Kuwait City, Kuwait, is building out a new archive facility based on technology from Harris Broadcast.

Kuwait TV operates three networks and one satellite channel — significant in a country in which satellite dishes are widely used by viewers to watch popular pan-Arab broadcasts. The broadcaster offers a variety of locally originated programs as well as coverage of politics, news and current affairs.

Systems integrator Gulf Media contracted Harris to build out the facility, which is the first of its kind in the region. It will include several products from the company’s HD product portfolio, including Harris NEXIO XS servers, the Velocity NX editing solution, the CENTRIO broadcast multiviewer, a Platinum router, Videotek TVM-950 test and measurement instruments, the 6800+ SD/HD video/audio processing and distribution modules and the CCS Navigator control and monitoring application.

The company also will provide three members of the H-Class media software suite: the ADC playout automation application, Invenio digital asset management system and Intelligent Media Mover (IMM) workflow management solution. Gulf Media also selected several Harris routing and distribution products for the project.
