Kramer acquires Sierra Video Systems

Kramer Electronics has acquired Sierra Video Systems, a northern Calif.-based company specializing in video signal routing, for an undisclosed amount. Eric Berliner, president of Sierra Video Systems, will remain in that position and now operate the company as a subsidiary of Kramer Electronics US.

The two companies have worked together on complementary products in the past and announced a strategic alliance two years ago, according to Berliner.

Dave Bright, president of Kramer Electronics U.S., said the acquisition of Sierra Video Systems will provide access to shared engineering personnel, combined worldwide sales forces, and a worldwide network of storage facilities.

The companies said business will continue as usual at Sierra’s Grass Valley, Calif. headquarters. Customers and suppliers can still reach the new company through its existing channels.

Sierra Video Systems designs and manufactures matrix switchers and routers for the high-end professional AV, broadcast, military and staging/rental and presentation marketplaces.

With world headquarters in Israel, Kramer Electronics recently added a line of serial digital (SDI), FireWire (IEEE-1394) and HDTV signal processing and distribution equipment to its product offerings.

In addition to its overseas channels, Kramer maintains a facility in Hampton, N.J, and regional sales offices in California, Connecticut, Illinois and Mexico.
