KOHD-TV installs HyperX² as hub for HD news graphics workflow

KOHD-TV, the all-digital ABC affiliate in Bend, OR, has installed a Chyron HyperX² graphics system for its new HD news studio.

With the exception of weather, all KOHD’s graphics run through the HyperX², which provides the hub of the station’s HD graphics pipeline. HD news graphics are generated natively on the system inside standard graphics programs or automated via KOHD’s air control interface for playout. The system is also operated live for all KOHD newscasts, simultaneously playing out persistent bugs, time/temp stamps, crawls, lower-thirds, OTS graphics, maps and full screens.

The HyperX²’s ability to stack multiple graphics on the output channels with persistent objects has enabled the station to consolidate into two channels what otherwise might have required more than six, according to Bryan Johnson, station creative services director.
