Kentucky Station Launches Web-Only Newscast
By TVTechnology published
CBS affiliate WKYT in Lexington, KY is launching a daily internet-only local newscast that will go out at 4 p.m.
Ten to 15 minutes in length, the broadband service is being promoted as a way to reach people who might not be home to watch the station’s regular local newscasts between 5 and 6:30 p.m.
The web-exclusive newscast is a first for a Lexington station. NBC affiliate WLEX in the same market presently streams some of its live newscasts. ABC affiliate WTVQ uploads shortened versions of its newscasts after they end.
WKYT’s online exclusives will be anchored by the station’s regular evening news anchors.
