Sioux Falls, S.D. NBC affiliate KDLT-TV recently replaced a legacy video server with an Omneon Video Networks Spectrum media video server for playout of the station's commercial content and interstitial material on both the station's main channel and its secondary digital channel.
"The Spectrum system offers a number of advantages, including easy expansion and proven interfaces to our other systems, such as automation and traffic," said John Lane, studio supervisor at KDLT-TV. "We selected the Omneon Spectrum because of its flexible architecture and reliability. We see the Spectrum server as a long-term investment that will grow with us as our needs change over time."
The Spectrum replaced a server system that was not easily expandable and did not easily interface with other systems in use at the station. The new server is being controlled by Sundance Digital automation. The Omneon Spectrum architecture allows users to easily add new channels and functionalities as their requirements change.
"Instead of being locked into a propriety and immutable system, KDLT-TV has a server platform easily adaptable to all their present and future needs," said Geoff Stedman, vice president of worldwide marketing for Omneon.
