Ireland: High Wire Goes 'Full HD' With Avid DS V10

High Wire, a post-production house, has added a state-of-the-art HD suite from Avid to its facilities as part of a major upgrade and expansion project carried out over recent months. High Wire will use Avid's new DS V10 multistream editing system that the Dublin post house said is the first of its kind installed in Ireland.

The installation will permit 11-year-old High Wire to configure visual effects for HD and SD broadcast programming, both in 2K and 4K resolution. To complement its HD suite, the post house has also invested in a shared storage central server from Facilis (TerraBlock 24D), which is dubbed as being another "first" for the Emerald Isle.

TerraBlock's fiber-channel interconnection allows image-capture and digitization at a central location where the same material can be accessed by any of up to six editors in High Wire's half-dozen suites. The post house said its new combination of Avid DS V10 and TerraBlock (both of which were supplied by Tyrell) means High Wire has, for all practical purposes, effectively eliminated traditional low-resolution off-line editing.
