Inspiration Networks Deploy Volicon Observer Technology

The Inspiration Networks have adopted Volicon's Observer desktop video monitoring system for use in connection with the network's analog and digital channels.

The system replaces a tape-based monitoring system and will allow the network to verify playout of programming and associated closed captioning.

"The immediacy provided by the Observer system allows us to work far more efficiently and to disseminate information at a very high level across our facilities, as well as to our clients," said Bart Palmer, chief technology officer and vice president of engineering for The Inspiration Networks and MediaComm. "We looked at other products, but none offered the same features or Observer's capacity for closed-captioning monitoring. That's an important aspect of every program, and Observer gives us a very effective way to confirm closed-caption display and to perform rapid keyword searches when necessary."

The Volicon Observer system continuously monitors all program streams and maintains clips for checking content for up to 30 days. The installation at The Inspiration Networks provides user seats for engineering, traffic and sales personnel to observe aired content. Screening is available at any ordinary desktop computer, and the system provides controls for searching, retrieving, viewing, analyzing, annotating, sharing and exporting of content.
