Indiana Station Adds First Newscast

Amid cutbacks at TV stations across the country, one is adding its very first week-day newscast to the line-up. WFFT-TV, the Fox affiliate in Fort Wayne, Ind., is planning to add a Monday-Friday local news in the spring, according to the station’s Web site.

“Fox Fort Wayne 1st News @10” will be broadcast during prime time. The show represents WTTF’s first foray into local news in its 32 years of broadcasting, the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weeklyreports.

The station, owned by Irving, Texas, Nexstar Broadcasting Group (NASDAQ: NXST), is said to be honing in on an anchor, who will also be the news director. The show will have four reporters shooting their own video and around 10 staff total.
