HPA Awards announce engineering presentations

Entrants for the Hollywood Post Alliance (HPA) Engineering Excellence Award will present their submissions on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at the Technicolor ITC Theatre in Burbank. The Engineering Excellence Award showcases innovations and outstanding contributions in the post production process. The award will be presented on the evening of November 1, 2006, at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

The HPA Awards recognize the outstanding contributions of post-production professionals working behind the scenes in a number of categories, including color grading, audio, visual effects compositing, and editorial for motion pictures, television and commercials. There are two special awards, the Engineering Excellence Award and the Career Achievement Award. The entry deadline for all submissions has been extended until September 22, 2006.

The Engineering Excellence Award is intended to showcase and reward inventers, manufacturers, vendors and/or peer post-production companies for their outstanding product or technology application offerings. Valid offerings may include products or processes, but must represent a step forward for its industry beneficiaries.

A key requirement for being considered in the category is that the submission must have been introduced and be commercially available to the market. Submissions can consist of hardware, software, a combination of the two, and/or a technological development or a post-production process.
